So the past 24 hours have been overwhelming, but who knows how overwhelming it may be when I arrive in Kenya on Wednesday.
Hopefully a lot of you have been following the news lately. Kenya, which is a relatively new democracy, had an election last Thursday involving the incumbent Kibaki and the opposition led by Odinga. Kibaki was sworn in on Sunday, but there are allegations claiming that he stole the election, incidences of stuffing boxes, and other such political corruption.
The city had virtually shut down, cutting off all live media newscasts, and turning off most public transportation.
Orientation activities have been postponed until next Wednesday; however a few other girls and I have decided to head out tomorrow morning as planned. I do not feel that we will be in any danger if we are intelligent in making decisions once we are in Nairobi. I just want to get the 16 hours flight over with and be in Nairobi as I have planned for months.
I will let all of you know as soon as I can when I arrive.
Don't worry. I will be safe.
